That's what the Fedris figures show. But how can you reduce those numbers? By establishing a well-thought-out traffic prevention policy and taking the necessary measures. But how do you start setting up a traffic prevention policy? ![](https://old2.bizzmine.com/hubfs/ongeval.jpg.webp) ### Traffic prevention to avoid accidents The total number of occupational accidents has decreased in recent years, which is positive news. However, in relation to the total numbers, the share of occupational road accidents is increasing. In 2008, they accounted for 9.7% of all work-related accidents; in 2017, they accounted for 11.5%. With winter weather approaching, the risk of occupational accidents due to snow or sleet is on the rise. As a prevention consultant, you naturally want to prevent as many traffic accidents as possible. We'll give you tips for implementing a traffic prevention policy so you can anticipate problems and be prepared. ### Developing a traffic prevention policy in 4 steps For a good working method, you should follow the ISO 39001 standard and incorporate it into an integrated management system. This standard is interesting for companies from all sectors, not only for transport companies. In addition, it is useful to apply the ‘Plan-Do-Check-Act’ (PDCA) principle when implementing a traffic prevention policy.
